why don't you teach your heart to feel

Break is ending tomorrow, and I haven't quite decided if I'm ready to go back or not. I think I'll be fine, especially because I'll be busy IMMEDIATELY, but my best friend is studying abroad in Poland and won't be back until the summer, so I'm now without somebody I spent every day with last semester. It's not missing home, and it's not disliking school, I just get nervous about getting back into the habits of working hard and making sure I get into some routines. I lucked out like shit, though - no classes Tuesday or Thursday if this schedule doesn't change (which if it does won't be through my doing).
I needed the past few weeks though to get away from people and defrag. I was so lazy, it'll actually probably be really good for me to get back to doing things constructively. This semester I'm in a program with the international students, so I'm paired up with a guy from Poland (weird, izzit, how things work out), and we start internship at the elementary school in the area. We are all so excited about that, even those of us who aren't elementary ed, which I am not.
Reading too many books again - Lamb, Pride and Prejudice, Junk Mail, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, The House of Sand and Fog, Anywhere But Here, The Guide for the Perplexed, The Complete Sherlock Holmes vol. 1, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Taking it sloowwwwww.

SPORTS!
Baseball: I was so pissed off when I found out we traded Santino. You know, we blew up the whole fucking family and I'm not sure that we needed to. All of my teams have issues - the Red Sox don't feel cohesive anymore and we decided to accuse our wonderful coach of being a drug addict before we let him go. Bullshit. 2012-13 is gonna be rough.
Basketball - College: ACC play just started today - when was the last time Wake was second in the conference? Tar Heels are playing right now, so we'll see how this season goes. Duke getting upset by Temple was the most beautiful thing, I could just picture Bill Cosby in his living room (or at the game, possibly) cracking up and jumping up and down and loving every minute of it. I sure as hell did - ABD baby!
Basketball - NBA: At first the Celtics couldn't win, then they couldn't lose, now we've lost again. 66 games in 120 days will freakin kill us. The Celtics Issue is that we're old as shit and we're not willing to trust our young guys so much so that we dangled Rajon and ruined our relationship with him. This team is over. It hurts, but we had our fun. Time to start over and start young.
Football - NFL: We don't talk about the Jets until next season.
Soccer: Everton first, always - DUDE EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IS OUT. Tim Cahill, Rodwell, Ossie needs surgery, and now fucking Jags could be out for six weeks. People don't understand my love for Phil Jagielka. It goes beyond reason. We can't afford to lose him, not with the Cup happening now. The good news is Tim Howard (TIM HOWARD) kicked the longest goal in Premier League history and even if he didn't think it was right to celebrate all the rest of us were sure as hell going to. That's Everton's Issue - injuries. And we're fucking broke.
Next, I've decided I need to pick an MLS team just to do it. I don't think I'll really care, but I feel guilty not supporting American soccer more. I have watched enough and I do care enough about our stake in the world's game, however, to already have several skeletons' worth of bones to pick with scheduling and playoffs, though. Say hello to the New York Red Bulls - formerly the NY/NJ MetroStars, formerly of Tim Howard fame. They're based in Jersey and they're the "New York Metropolitan Area" team, so they cover my home area.

This has gone on long enough - good luck in the new semester to all the college kids, have a great rest of the year to all the teachers, and good luck as well to the high school seniors getting their applications and scholarships sorted this semester - I remember ALLLLLL too well. Make wise choices, and know that you will end up where you are meant to be :)
