The journey of fulfillment

(No spoilers.)

Nine years.
Nine years since I first encountered one of the world's most noted book series which has set numerous publishing industry records. Since my adolescence, Harry Potter has been like a close companion. I feel I've shared his laugh, his pain and his courage.

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at around 5.30am this morning. I could barely contain my excitement when I travelled yesterday to the book store where my copy of the book was awaiting me. When I first opened the book, I could feel my heart racing. I experienced a range of emotions throughout the read. I cried and laughed and felt frustrated and smiled and felt relieved . After finishing reading the last installment of the series, I felt fulfilled and a sense of closure. The final book was everything I, like other Potter fans did, had tried to predict and yet so much more. My previous concern that this particular book would signify my becoming a real adult at last has vanished. The kid in me is still intact and will continue to be so.

And Harry Potter, the series, will continue to live on even after it has ended.
