Tuesday night was amazing. I broke out the good champagne and sat around with good friends in Kew Gardens. What I loved was that Kevin's mother was there celebrating with us...and seemingly just as enthralled and amazed as we were. She was shaking she was so excited. She said she thought she would never see this day. It made me ridiculously happy since she reminded me of my mom.
The streets I walked down in NYC were filled with people talking to each other, hugging each other, dancing, and yelling. It sure felt like change. Politics that are inclusive rather than divisive.
Afterward, standing outside Nowhere bar with two friends...I saw a crying girl walking by....with her face buried in her hands. So, we asked why she was crying, invited her over, gave her a big group hug, and told her we were her big gay teddy bears. She tearfully asked why we were being so nice....so we told her that tonight crying wasn't allowed. She cracked a smile and started laughing, and told us her story. She hugged all of us and then took off a little less sad.
It was that kind of night. I didn't go to sleep until the sun came up.
