rant IV: life love music and mathematics
so there we were/me in my leather jacket with the buttons ready to rip off at any moment/so frayed that I can't even button my coat/and you dressed in your pink and denim/together we moved from one underground bunker to another/surrounded by music in both/rock music/real music/but this time with people/dancing people/bodies in motion/bodies in space/it was like the movement of electrons in an atom/it was inherently nuclear/shimmying and swaying/as if it's all been coded in our DNA/or in the laws of the universe/it didn't matter who you were/so long as you could hear the music/god it only matters if you can still hear the music/and we could hear the music/we heard the MUSIC/I want to capitalize it/like jesus or muhammad/it's something even bigger than them/three chords bigger than any deity/than any apostle's creed/and so there we were/tied by an invisible silver cord/that emanated from our hearts/from below our bellies/the fusion of body and soul/and for a moment the mind stopped talking/the senses started listening/we were glistening with each other's sweat/pheromones in the air/from you, from me, from the music itself/from the people who actually would get up and DANCE/DANCE our way out of these shackles/DANCE us out of our chains/freedom is the movement and the movement is towards freedom/when the movement moves/jives and shakes/shakin' all over/from your hair to your groin into your toes/when you move that's when the blood flows/we danced until we collapsed in a corner/then we got up to dance some more/and the choir sang back "i love rock and roll" as their hallujah/and we did/we loved rock and roll/and each other/the music has helped us find our own beat/we had to listen to them as we drove back home/the sweat was cold on our backs/but it never turned to frost/as we came down from that peak we realized we weren't coming down at all/and we swore we never will/the valleys are high and the mountains are low/when you speak the universal languages.
