9. Kalifornia
“Kalifornia” is perhaps one of the most under-rated films on my list of favorite serial killer films. Released in 1993, and directed by Dominic Sena (“Whiteout”, “Swordfish”), “Kalifornia” stars a then rather unknown David Duchovny, as Brian Kessler a journalist travelling from Kentucky to California while writing a book about serial killers. When Brian and his girlfriend place an ad to share the ride, Early (Brad Pitt) and Adele (Juliette Lewis) hop along with the journey. Unbeknownst to Brian, Early is a murderer on the run.
While many would argue 1991’s “Thelma & Louise” put Pitt on the Hollywood map, “Kalifornia” was the film that showed the world he was a true actor.
