Today from 10:30 to 5:15 the power was out for the entire base. I think this was because of all the rain which Monterey is not used to. Usually when i t rains in Monterey, most places would call it drizzle, mist or just simply fog, but since Saturday night it was actually raining. So here in Chicago it dropped to like 30 degrees last week, and in Dallas it was 90 degrees.

The thing is, here, if you wear a jacket at 30 degrees everyone looks at you like you're a big ol' wuss. It's 30, the wind chill makes it feel like 20 something, and old people are out in their wind suits, and people are walking their dogs in their pajamas and ear muffs. What the hell is WRONG with these people?

I spent all day wednesday at a rifle range with the lovely german weather alternating between lightly raining and looking like fog because it was coming down so hard. I was fine with laying in the mud and wet sand while it poured in the 40ish degree weather, but what bothered me was a friend's comment that although I was doing well, he was disappointed that I was wearing rain gear and not toughing it out like he was. Sometimes I don't understand people. They should all fall down stairs.

So you finally moved to Monterey! Awesome, awesome. How are you liking it?

You guys lost power for WAY longer than we did. Ours was gone for like an hour and a half. And we're due for another huge "storm" ... 45 mph winds and such ... should lose power again ... FUN.
