Hey Hey Hey!
Ok so I may or may not have mentioned before, but I will be using this site to share food not only that I have made, but dirty vegan food which others create as well. I understand completely that not everyone is a cook and I am not even sure I would consider myself one yet, but this website is my nearest attempt. :) My friend has not been feeling well so I decided to bring her some vegan pizza (probably not what you should feed an ill person, but I wanted to cheer her up). I have heard about this place called Cruzer Pizza located in Loz Feliz on the corner of Hillhurst and Prospect so I decided to give it a try. For those of you living in the Los Angeles region, check this place out!
They make vegan pizza with a newer cheese called daiya which is composed of cassava root flour, coconut oil, pea protein, yeast, vegetable glycerin, and some natural flavoring. Cassava root is a root vegetable resembling a potato that is native to South America. Obviously this thing does not have the ingredient that many vegan cheeses are based with: SOY! And while I did not necessarily feel like I was eating the real thing, I definitely did not miss the funky aftertaste that so many soy cheeses provide. Daiya cheese is available in limited locations, but I get the feeling that this newer cheese alternative will soon be a hot commodity!
The pizza I ordered was a vegan margherita with some added soy vegan sausage! Yummy. While I am not head over heels in love with daiya cheese, I was still quite satisfied with my three slices! I should mention that Cruzer does not have a website yet, but here is their number and address:

hey are a take out only pizza joint. This place is very tiny! They have quite a variety of vegan pizzas and I applaud them for creating such a selection with a cheese that is redefining vegan cheese! For more on daiya cheese you can visit their website:
http://www.daiyafoods.com/ By the way- there seems to be quite a few new cheeses being added to vegan market so I have decided to do a cheese tasting. I just ordered 30 dollars worth of cheese from veganessentials.com and I will be sure to update you with what is worth buying and how to use them best.
Everyone is catching on to the new vegan daiya cheese:
