and thought that this might interest some of you. I am not soapboxing, I just thought that perhaps we are all so far removed from anything like this that sometimes it's just better to be reminded. Anyway - I was reading world news tonight, and am going to donate what it would cost me to take us out to dinner one evening. If I can do that every ( Read more... )

I don't know about Bloomington, but we have a local distributor up here that I've taken a liking to called Food Finders. Go and check out the website if you wish... http://www.dcwi.com/~foodbank/

WFP is certainly a good cause, I just personally prefer to try to fix my *home* before I try to fix the world. It gos along with the knot i get in my stomach when I see a 5 billion dollar mars rover and i know that there are thousands dying in the world because they don't even have clean water. ::shudder:: WTF is wrong with the world?

Oh, I completely agree about supporting local foodbanks on a regular basis... but every once in a while, also donating to the above organization. To me, it just seems to remind me of how big and small the world is at the same time. And it isn't like I can give much, maybe 10 or 20 bucks, but it would still help. Plus, I think it was the photos of the kids, and hanging out with someone who is going to go to Sierra Leone to help them work on political conflict resolution to help me see the bigger, human picture.

Anyhoo - I was just kinda thinkin out loud!

Hi, sweetie!! How are you??? Miss you!

a very pro-people approach. I admire that. I want to friend you, if you don't mind. I also want to let you know, Ju lost his "baby smell". *sigh* it wasn't long after you met him, one of his aunts held him while wearing perfume and her scent overwhelmed his. I was so bummed. I really enjoyed meeting you and talking with you. It was just bad circumstances that brought us together (Rob's father's funeral). Ok, now, if I have the wrong person, I really apologize, but I don;t think that I do (obviously, or I would not have gone into all of this). Looking forward to reading more from you.
