Did a short movie today with Rondell Franklin, an aspiring writer/actor, at Big Mama's House of Soul. Notable things are that this is the first time I've worked with the Canon 5D in HD. It's impressive. I looked at the difference between that and my JVC HD100 and cried inside.
Interesting things about the shoot. We tried to play with Depth of Field though we did not rack focus at all. We remain meat and potatoes videographers and played it pretty safe with the shot angles. The crazy thing we did try was a reverse virtual fourth wall truck shot. I'll follow this up when I edit it together. It'll be a little tricky but you'll see what I was going for and I'll explain how I did it.
I'm too tired to edit at all. But I want to show this outtake. One, because the depth of field in it is awesome. Special consideration with how precise Rondell is in focus. Two, because of the interaction between the dialogue and the TV behind it. Don't worry about the sound (i hope) We had two lavaliers on them connected to my JVC which has become the backup/sound camera.
