In which Bleach 354 is read

Yeah.

SO. First thing's first. ULQUIORRA. Apparently, dust-Ulqui wasn't the last we'd see of him. In fact, we get like four or five extra pages of dying Ulquiorra from his perspective, and I'm not sure what the purpose of this was. The spoilers were vague, and it did leave me wondering if perhaps, whether really dead or not, Ulquiorra was still significant. But in reading it, I can see how this actually can be also a closing for him. It actually kinda irks me, because if Ulquiorra is never to be seen again, I actually liked the closing for the last chapter better. I mean, if it's just to show that Orihime's affected him, it could've been insinuated with just one extra speech bubble in the last chapter. And it doesn't feel like a closing, because it's at the beginning of the chapter. It probably won't stand out much in the graphic novel, but it does in the weekly serial.

Looking at this from a writer's POV, I'm not sure what Kubo was trying to achieve. More fuel for the Ulquihime flames? Not that's it necessary, considering what we're getting from the Ichihime and Ishihime front (I don't count Grimmhime, because GrimmIchi makes more sense and it's still nonsensical). Sure we get more hand-reaching-out action, which can be considered symbolic, but what else? That Espada=/=redeemable? That could be done with Nel and her motley crew, but I guess it IS less dramatic.

For some reason I think there's more I wanted to say, but I can't think of what.

YAMMY. Well, this is a kick in the face if anything. And brings up many questions. Like, WTF? Yammy? Supposedly Espada's #1 badass? Yammy? The same guy that got owned by Ishida?

Huh.

It makes me wonder why he didn't just kill Yoruichi when they fought. And why he didn't just transform and step on everyone already? It'd save him and Aizen a lot of trouble.

Though, if he's so strong, I wonder why he acted like Ulquiorra's sidekick, instead of the other way around. Maybe Aizen put Ulquiorra in charge, because he's more level-headed? I guess Aizen doesn't want Yammy stepping on our heroes, though it makes me wonder if Aizen's taking his job as the Big Bad (tm) seriously. Seriously, flatten Ichigo, Urahara and co and then kidnap the girl. Does Aizen not believe in being practical?

Unless he thinks of it as a game, and then it all makes sense in a twisted sort of way. And makes him a bigger jerk.

Oh, and RENJI. I knew you could be sensible. Though Rukia seems as surprised as me. I don't blame her.

I hope none of them and Chad die because of YAMMY of all people (well, I hope none of them die, but that's not the point). I don't think I'll ever get over that. . .

Hmm, not sure how coherent my thoughts are. There might be more, but I can't think of any, and it's like freaking one in the morning. SLEEP.
