Tennis update and general Olympics squee

Olympic tennis is off to a very problematic start - it has rained about four times today which has suspended a lot of matches and has set back all the ones I want to watch. I woke up expecting James Blake's game on TV but our cable got tired of waiting for the rain to stop and switched to beach volleyball then to basketball. I doubt they're going ( Read more... )

I have officially given up watching Tennis during the Olympics, no TV station is showing then and besides it's an excuse to show my family that I am so not obsessed with tennis. *cough*

There I was thinking I was the only one watching beach volley ball. Thank heavens I'm not. The dancing girls kill me and you have to love the music even they it's annoy when it's a good song and it's cut short.

What sucks here is that one of our TV stations has every intention of showing the tennis matches but the weather in China won't cooperate! I hope it gets better tomorrow, they have so many games to get through!

And the beach volleyball's awesome! I know what you mean about the good songs being cut short and the dancing girls, but it's really the sand that amuses me for some strange reason!

Anybody else want to offer a large slashy thanks to whomever keeps setting up the calendar so Rafa plays before Rogi? It seems like when Rafa wins, that pushes Roger.

Tomorrow (starts at 4pm Beijing time):
Nadal vs. Andreev (Court 1, 1st match)
Federer vs. Berdych (Centre Court, 2nd match)

And they're both going to be mad difficult! Andreev and Berdych? I should get my sedatives ready!

Okay, now, no hyperventilating. Doing enough of that over here. :D maribella008 August 13 2008, 05:13:53 UTC
First, let’s look at the head-to-head. Rafa is 3 wins for 4 meets vs. Andreev. Rogi is 6 wins for 7 matches vs. Berdych. (OK, the loss was in the Olympics, but … :D)

The way Rafa’s playing, I think he’s over the jet lag (call me Cassandra; my fic said he had it, even if no one believed me) - that’s what was slowing him down against Starace. His matches against Lleyton are usually a looooong grind, and you saw it - 2 sets, bang, bang. Barring any surprises (famous last words, I know) I expect him to do well ( ... )

Hee, what's not to love about Roger? China's lucky to be getting both him and Rafa twice this year, what with the Shanghai Masters coming up in a few months!

I now have this burgeoning love for Rafa Arevalo, call me mushy but I love that he's come a long way and managed to hold his own against the Fed, and that he's only just beginning! I hope we see more of him in the years to come, I love me some Rafas, apparently :p

That article you linked me to is pretty enjoyable indeed! I understood what the title of it meant (we also call gorgeous boys here guapo) but I needed a bit of help with a translator for the actual article :p But James Blake? Heh, just not my type I guess!

P.S. I did get your email and am replying to it now! :D
