Doomsday, Ten/Rose, Season 2 in general:

I finally finished watching Season 2 the other day, and it took me this long to get around to writing about it because I just couldn't wait to dive into the third season already .  Some people were correct in warning me that Doomsday would be intense, it sure was. I was at the edge of my seat for most of the ( Read more... )

The rational part of me agrees with you about "Doomsday" and that it is probably a good thing that it ended the way it did, considering the fact that as a character throughout all of the Who series, the Doctor has never been one for permanent and/or romantic relationships. It's almost as if it's taboo for him; maybe due to the fact that he'll outlive his partner, I'm not sure. Perhaps something that really made it work for me is that they never had to be overly showy about how they felt about each other - they just sort of knewThe irrational part of me wants to see Rose back, Martha gone (or accepting her role as friend only), and to have them hash it all out as there was so much potential to do at the end of "Doomsday" before the Doctor got pulled away ( ... )

I didn't even think about that, Martha being almost immediately attracted to the Doctor, I agree with you that the writers should've waited a little longer to develop that story. But then again he did kiss her within hours of meeting her, so what woman wouldn't fall for him if he did that?

I don't know, I like to think that it's too early to tell if she can possibly fill Rose's role as a good companion to the Doctor, Rose did have two seasons with the Doctor to figure things out, right? I'm hoping that Martha would somehow be seen as a competent companion in her own right, not just "Rose's replacement".

Not yet familiar with the earlier Doctors and their personalities, but I guess the Doctor acting like a jerk or distancing himself at times is just a defense mechanism, to protect himself from feeling too much 'coz of the whole immortality thing. Makes me feel bad for him now :(
