i think most people with brains and a desire to nurture and impart smaller brains with knowledge have thought about teaching. i certainly have thought about it. it's also certainly easier than having kids. at the end of the day, the little shits go the fuck home.

are you going to do that special HISD certification program? do you need a degree before you apply?

I agree with the whole desire to teach thing. I always planned to do it after I retired from living the life of a hell-bent rock star on the run from mediocrity.

I was unaware about a special HISD certification, I will look into that, thank you!

Oh and yes, degree required. At most schools here I can finish my Biology degree and go through special teacher training, or I can get a degree from the Education Department in Secondary (8-12th) Biology/Life Science and already have the teaching courses included in the B.A. Luckily I have all the core stuff done and some biology already, so I really just have really advance biology and education/teaching courses left and I'm sure the education courses will be a breeze. *knock on wood*

Quick, yep! Looks bad on paper, but I know what my instinct says and I have a clear head.

Anyway!

Going to start in January. I'm rusty with the school thing, so I'm wondering how many classes I should start off with... 3, 4 or 5?

where are you going for classes? UH? i'm way rustier than you and i started off with 4 classes, but i'm taking lower level courses. maybe 3 is good if you're gonna be hitting the high level biology and education courses. that's the lowest # of classes that's still considered full-time, which is where most financial aid kicks in. depends on how soon you want to complete your degree.

Hah, yeah... My favorite aunt (Like a 2nd mom to me) usually includes a curse word of some sort in her raw advice on life. Lol

I live close to UH Clearlake, but the main campus is still a possibility. I REALLY hate the parking/shuttle crap there though, so probably Clearlake.
