Haruhi is, as a rule, generally very hard to link with. Once you hit one or two, Haruhi is constantly keeping people at a distance. He doesn't want to care about them, because he will have to use them...and that's easier if he doesn't care. Once one manages to get about rank 6, they will find him much less calm, and much more meddlesome--if you're important to him, then he won't stop at anything to keep you safe and happy.

He despises that the man seems to want to pretend Canaan never happened--and that he seems to believe Maiko completely incapable. Whether or not Miyoko sees it that way, Haruhi takes his refusal to give Maiko her own choices personally--and it hasn't ended well. BROKEN.

A. Ishikaya Kiyoshi - Haruhi’s roommate. He finds the man intriguing, to say the least-in fact, Kiyoshi’s past (which Haruhi looked into extensively)-strikes a chord with the redhead. The fact that Kiyoshi does not…quite seem to be all there means Haruhi, like it or not, ends up mothering him. In his defense, Kiyoshi really rather needs it. Link Rank: 6
B. Kazuya Merrit - Secretary, and official pain in the ass. Much against Haruhi's will, he's found that his feelings for Kazuya...aren't going away. Unable to completely deny them, he finds himself avoiding the man, and mostly miserable for it. He doesn't understand why Kazuya continues to follow his orders, even when Haruhi crosses the morality line, but he's not questioning it--more than he likes to admit, Haruhi doesn't want to be alone. Hanejima Makoto - One of the Canaan Scientists. Haruhi was initially intrigued by the fact that she very well should have been dead, but he allows this to slide in light of the fact that the woman is entirely kind. He believes her to be like-minded in his goal-if, perhaps, she probably wouldn’t approve of his methods-and respects her as a mechanic and as a person. He enjoys her company, such as it is...or he did, before he lost his sanity, and tried to kill Miyoko. Fujiwara Yukiko - Childish. Haruhi finds Yukiko’s entire demeanor childish, particularly her anger at him pointing out her weaknesses. However, far from being annoyed by it, it merely amuses him-she reacts well, and has yet to realize she can greviously injure him with her persona. He finds himself idly wondering if she will grow into a better person-but he doesn’t entire care, either. She’s an amusing toy, and nothing more.
