My friend was recently fired from her job at Half Price Books because of the actions of three petty, useless, conniving and mean individuals. And it makes me livid. She loved her job, worked very hard, tried to be a fair and good supervisor (which Lord knows, we've all had supervisors who didn't bother trying) and did it all without making a whole lot of money. Half Price tends to give decent benefits and is fair on many levels, but their policies of promoting from within and not paying a living wage often left employees working for years working multiple jobs, waiting to climb up the chain so they could make enough that they wouldn't have to work 60 hrs a week.
"So, I no longer work for Half Price Books. I was fired because of petty and vindictive co-workers. I am financially ok, as I had a 401k that I can live off of until I get another job. And I don't even need to get into that if I get a new job in the next month.
I graduated from FHSU via 27 hours online throughout 2008. I have a degree now, and hopefully, that will help me get an even better job than the one I lost.
I am sad that Russ Upman, Patrick Crough, and Mary Pawlowski, were so mean and small that getting me and Chris fired was something they thought would make them happy. I am also sad to have been forced out of a job that I loved."
After going over his manager's head to report her to his manager's boss on the breaking of a minor company policy (which was investigated, but not proven - she was fired on suspicion), what really get's me is the one gentleman asked for her old job. That's right! Isn't that just special? His conspiring co-worker-in-arms-girlfriend, who also teaches yoga for Lawrence Parks and Rec, benefits from it if he gets that promotion. Huh, isn't that funny how that works out just so neatly for the both of them? It also potentially opens a position for one of their best friends to be transferred from another store to their store. I guess the big boss just happened to go to just walked into their hands. Lucky them. They not only got ONE person they didn't happen to like fired, they managed to get TWO people, the other person supporting a family. What sick, trashy, nasty people. If they had a problem, they could have taken it to their manager and had it handled in house. But they had an intent to purposely hurt two people who loved their jobs; one of them the nicest person you'd ever meet, because they had interior motives. And because these people were fired in such a way, despite the fact that there is no proof of wrong doing, they may not have unemployment benefits to act as safety pillows in one of the worst economic downturns this country has seen since the Great Depression.
To the three of them, a large, hearty FUCK YOU applies. Don't worry about karma or anything - it eventually comes around. Trashy. Just trashy.
