Body Modification

Okay, coolest fucking website I have seen for a while: http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/lacingmethods.htm

Why is that so darn intriguing? Why? Now I feel compulsed to try some of these out, just to see if I can do them. I can see this going into a sickening obsession.

So, I've been talking to Ben about doing rhinoplasty and tight-lacing lately. Strangely enough, he's fine with the waist-training, as long as its no health danger to me. The nose job, he has always been dead set against, and tried to make some case against living up to societal values, etc...

I'm not doing this for THEIR values. I'm doing it for MY values and wants. And I've explained this many times. I've done a lot of research and talking to people who have done surgery or want to do surgery, and seen the many conclusions they've come to for wanting to modify their bodies through surgery, minor or major. And really, it seems like it comes down to personal choice and personal self-image problems.

I enjoy body modification on some level. I think its interesting how far humans have gone in pursuit of beauty, and in some case, to do their own thing - to find interest in their own bodies, seeing it as a tool for art rather than a tool to fit into society better, like much body moding is for. Part of the reason I have never gotten a tatto has been because I see that as part of the purpose of tattooing (art I mean), but I would want a symbol, a piece of art important and meaningful enough to me, to undergo permanently damaging my skin for it. I've finally gotten to a concept that I like for a tattoo, but I want to think on it and design on it until I have a full idea of what I want. (Prior to this, I've thought about several Leonardo DiVinci technological designs, and even some simplified Botticelli or Raphael paintings for a sleeve - which would be important and beautiful to me, but I want the PERFECT one and a good simplication of it. I dont want to get into a fully complicated tattoo for my first tat.)

I think I may have hit the point where I have seen every ep. of Futurama. And this terribly saddens me.

Updating three journals is a lot of work!
