Poetry and Such

Well, the last few days I've been feeling poetic, so I decided to write some poetry today while I was at the Waffle House. I know that it's sophomoric at best, but I still felt like writing. It's not that, I don't think, for someone who hasn't written anything in years.
This first one is about Lucifer's fall from heaven, with hints of god regretting the actions that led to it. As everyone who knows me is aware, I'm not Christian, but that doesn't stop it from being a powerful story, and I'm nothing if not a fan of good fiction.

Fallen
You betrayed me in haste
In those early days
When everything was new

I spoke and you were running
Then suddenly you were plummeting
Through the virgin sky

Through clouds and pain
And torrential rain
You fell straight to the ground

And deeper still
It was a fall that would kill
Any mortal man

And through man was young
All of them heard your vile tongue
After that

Evil came and evil caused
All manner of hate to be given
And through your pain the earth was split and riven

The fire makes a funeral pyre
The flares and crackles around you
While you're in your cell in the depths of hell
I sit way on high
Dreaming of when the world was new.

This next one, as I'm sure is obvious, was written when my ex-girlfriend came into the Waffle House. She came into apologize for jumping to the conclusion that I had been cheating on her, but that doesn't instantly erase anger.

Pain in Black
You were dark as the midnight sky
In both hair and eye
And I wanted to hold you close

But you ran away
To a world of gray
And said you'd hate me forever

I didn't know why
But I let it lie
Knowing you'd regret it soon

And soon you came back
Full of misguided anger and ready to attack
Thinking you were innocent

But one day you'll feel
Pain like I feel
And felt for many a moon

When you know what you did
And regret what you said
When all I asked was why.

Anyways, those are, as I said, sophomoric, but I like them. I'm working on another one about bondage because, as you all know, I am Captain Bondage. In closing, I give you a link to my favourite poem, The Cremation of Sam McGee, which is at http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/2640/?letter=C&spage=26 Enjoy.
