Thanks for the comment. It's probably silly writing post-eps for episodes that are so old, but I think the tension between Charlie's emotional responses and Don's rationality still exists in more recent eps.
I just watched this show again last week and I have to tell you it sounded like it was part of the show. You had Don's voice and his arguements perfect. Those are exactly the reasons he had to treat Charlie the way he did. What I find interesting is that Charlie is a scientist and he is constantly asking for more data - yet, in so many cases he reacts with emotion without having all the facts. But, I love his character's emotions and Don's sometimes less that patient response to them. You brought that into this tag and I loved it. I could go on and on; good characterization all around, smooth movement of the story using conversation, retaining the flavor of the originial episode, etc. Very nicely done.
Thanks, Ms Graham Cracker, for an incredibly nice review.
Charlie, to my mind, has a total blind spot about his own lack of rationality. It's particularly interesting that he has that, given that his academic work is supposed to be about order and logic and the denial (in some ways) of intuition.
I'm glad you liked Don's voice. I was really unsure about them all, so it's nice to know they're not as bad as I had feared!
Dude, not my fandom at all, and I've not watched Numbers for some time. Well, ages, actually. But incidentally, I DID watch this episode, AND I remembered it. You "Charlie Eppes"-tag made me curious, and you only got so few fics and well, this one I just kinda had to read.
So, let me tell ya: GREAT!
It fit in nicely, gave some depth to stuff that always bothered me in a way (Don's attitude, his perceived coldness, etc) and made sense of it. Thanks.
