I love Spike and Xander as talking buddies, and there's far too little of it in the world...

Thank you v. much.

I completely agree about the glossing over. Do you have any recs for other fics in this ballpark?

I really like this. This is a conversation that should have happened, just like one should have happened between Xander and Faith. This is a primary reason I love fanfic, for filling in the gaps canon leaves.

Thank you so much for the comment. I was really disappointed with the lack of resolution in Xander and Faith's stories in canon, but so pleased at the amount of fic that tackles it.

This fits very well into my conception of season 7 and what preceded it. something in Xander felt envious of the way that Spike just carried on talking in the same light, cool voice that he always used. That he wasn't stammering. That his voice wasn't wobbling all over the place like a toddler on ice skates. This especially rang true - that Spike and Xander could connect on difficult, but it would have a different impact on each of them, at least outwardly.

Thanks. I really love the idea of Xander and Spike together, particularly in a non-shagging way. I wish we'd seen a bit more of it in canon.

It's stories like this that make me wish we could have seen this on the show. Xander and Spike finding something in common ( even if it's nasty) and bonding.

Ah! The beauty of fanfic.

Fanfic is pretty awesome. I can so see Spike and Xander bonding a bit more than they did in S7, particularly in that house of women.

Thanks for the comment.
