I'm settling nicely into my new apartment. I'm now at about 125th and Roosevelt, which is not quite as convenient to groceries/bus as the last place, but is full of light and quite spacious. Across the street we have Indian and Italian food, and a precious Indian/Pakistani grocery/halal butchery. This means I'm cooking a lot more curry and daal and such, and I think I may convert entirely to central Asian cuisine.
I've gotten almost entirely unpacked, though I still don't have much in the way of furniture. I'm happy on the floor, but I understand that most people don't share that with me. Jess is extremely busy, so things are coming together in a slow and sure manner, and not so much in a quick and efficient manner. It's sort of nice though; I do all the cooking and cleaning, but since she's so busy, I really have no particular problem with this. It means I know where the dishes generally are, and I get to cook what I want.
School is going well. I'm taking the last physics course in this series, Human Sexuality, and Non-Western Architecture. They are challenging, boring, and soothingly thought-provoking, respectively. I spend a lot of time with the physics people in the SPS lounge, and today's conversation was particularly fun, spanning quantum mechanics and cryptography, neural circuitry, fiber and textiles, and the relationships between all of these things (they exist, I promise). It really helps with my conceptual understanding of calculus (which is my autodidact project of the quarter), and gives me fun things to think about to practice it.
My sewing has taken a distinctly domestic tone, since I'm now discovering the need for things like fabric bins and organizers. Monday I made a few fabric-colored bins out of cheap sheets and the cardboard banana boxes I used to move, and they're just the right size to hold socks and stuff in the bottom of my closet. Tonight I'm going to make a couple lunch sacks.
