this is how my day went...... WHAT? you cant prove this isnt my post!!
so today i found out that i won the Morris Croll Poetry Prize and honorable mention for the Ward Mathis (second to co-winners my BFF Mimi(!) and Alfred Brown, whose damn good) and i'm kind of excited about that. but at the same time its dismal. maybe i should just become a poet, because the whole fiction thing, according to my track record, isn't quite turning out to be my forte. not that i'm not thankful!
anyway, this was all apart of class day here, where the departments hand out thesis prizes and such. this girl, who i have nicknames White Kate, is apparently a secret genius, i.e. doesn't let on to the fact that she is a burgeoning academic and so shocks all of her friends and family when she wins the comparative literature thesis prize for her analysis of Italo Calvino and the Uli Pot movement. also Vanessa Snowden, to whom i recently confessed an undying obsession with, won the top top top english department thesis prize because she's fucking phenomenal and also a secret, Peruvian genius. so congratulations to them.
this whole set up is weird, because it's like watching all these people in their embryonic phase before they move on to becoming awkward big whigs in the future of literary criticism.
tonite is the senior prom, and though i am a sophomore, i will be going.
