RIP, "Special" Ed Scissorhands, 1997-2008.
Ed passed away yesterday while I was at work, from a heart attack, which was a complication of a larger, bigger problem we never got to solve for him. I wish I had been there when he died, but have small comfort knowing I cancelled a trip to NY, in the event something would happen while I was away--I would have felt doubly worse.
He was the greatest cat that ever lived. I don't know what's worse--the fact that he's gone, or the fact that he's never coming back. His unique empathy and amazing affection, combined with a personality unlike any other feline I've ever known made him more human than cat. The lack of his presence in my home is overwhelming.
For all of you who knew and loved him as much as I do, we will be having a memorial service in a few weeks after we get his ashes back from cremation.
