I've been rereading the Volo's Guides to various part of the Forgotten Realms at night, mostly because they're entertaining and I don't feel like I have to go back over a chapter if I fall asleep in the middle of it. I miss the details that went into 2nd Edition AD&D stuff back then. I skimmed some of the 4th Edition (and on) books when they came out, and was disappointed to see everything boiled down to numbers.
Makes me want to install Baldur's Gate II again.
