Nichkhun felt ill and he had to excuse himself even though he was sure that no one would've cared, at least not after they found out. Instead of going to the closest bathroom, he led himself quickly out of the hospital and into his car. His heart drummed against his ribs and it was all he could hear as the sound drowned out everything else. Nichkhun trembled as he gripped the steering wheel, “Out, I have to get out of here.” With a shaky breath, the put the car in reverse and sped off.

“Fuck fuck fuck!” He smacked the steering wheel as he accelerated. The tires screeched as he hit a red light and he was oblivious to the looks he was receiving from passerbys. “Come on...” he growled at the light before it turned green.

He didn't know why he headed home and it only made his stomach twist tighter knots as he stepped inside. It was there, the smell, the feel and the taste. Nichkhun felt his tongue swell up and he dragged his feet into the small apartment, leaving wet trails behind him from his soaked suit. He didn't even remember that it had been raining.

Nichkhun paused at the sound of crunching under his foot. He looked down and his eyes met with a broken picture frame. He bent down slowly, carefully brushing away the shards of glass so that he could see the photo. He knew exactly what the photo was, being the only one he kept out in the open that was not of his successful self.

His hands started to shake again as he held the photo and he suddenly wanted to rip it to shreds but something in his heart told him not to. “You're an asshole Horvejkul Nichkhun.”

Minutes passed until it was a full hour before Nichkhun picked himself off the floor. He dropped the photo and pulled off his wet clothing. It was only a reminder and if there was one thing that he was good at, it was moving on. Nichkhun shuddered as he entered his bathroom, the cool air of the fan tickling his naked wet skin. He stepped into the shower and the hot water hit him like a blast of realization.

How could he move on? Usually, if not one hundred percent of the time, Nichkhun never had an emotional attachment, making it so much easily to step forward. Was it the guilt? No, or maybe it was. He had never put anyone in a coma before. He had never hit anyone with his car. He had never hated someone so much in his life.

Nichkhun crumpled to the shower floor, feeling weak and defeated. “I did this... All by myself. Worthless piece of shit,” he hissed.

His mind was on auto pilot as he forced himself to grab a towel and dry off. He absentmindedly got dressed and sat on the edge of his bed, staring off into nothing.

“Nichkhun.”

He jumped, looking around suddenly. “Stupid,” he muttered, knowing he was alone. “Delusional.” He opted to make himself coffee, knowing that he wasn't going to fall asleep easily. Nichkhun sighed as he sat on the bar stool in his kitchen. He was reminded of the rain as he looked out the window. He rubbed his forehead, suddenly thinking about something other than himself. “What have I done?”

~

“Hey sweetheart, can I buy you a drink?”

It was a cheesy thing to say but when you had looks like Nichkhun did, anything worked. Hell, he probably could've gotten away with “wanna fuck?”, and sometimes, he did.

The girl next to him accepted and her eyes looked him up and down, “You look like you're ready for a date. Hope I'm not keeping you from someone.”

“No, I was waiting here for you.”

The girl giggled and he ignored the little voice at the back of his head that was scolding him. It wasn't the first time and Nichkhun doubted that it would be the last. 'He can wait a little longer.'

Wooyoung adjusted his footing, leaning now on the left rather than his right. The air was chilly and he sniffled as he felt it annoy him. It had been an hour since their original meeting time and Wooyoung thought that maybe Nichkhun was caught in traffic. He flipped open his phone and sent another text only to be answered with nothing. Wooyoung sighed, picking up the bag he had between his feet. “Why do I do it? Stupid Wooyoung. He's only playing with you.”

He gripped the bag tightly before deciding to head home. He knew that Nichkhun wasn't going to contact him or even drop by to apologize because that was something the older boy didn't do. He was constantly asked why he even gave that boy the time of day when he treated him like shit but Wooyoung could never reply. He never had an answer. He liked the way that Nichkhun made him feel, not in a masochistic type of way or anything, but when he did show a loving emotion.

He crawled into bed, feeling lonely and humiliated, “How many times has it been now Wooyounggie? I've lost count.” He set the alarm on his clock and rubbed his cheek against the pillow, hoping to fall asleep quickly.

“Yes of course, I'll see you Monday,” Nichkhun smiled despite being hidden by the receiver and it sent Wooyoung on edge. The sharp glance he got gave him goosebumps. Nichkhun passed him and closed the door before stepping close to his body. “What are you doing here?” he hissed.

“I-I... You didn't show up.”

“I was working late!” Nichkhun stormed to his desk. “I told you that! I called you but you didn't answer your phone.”

“I didn't see anything.”

“And that's my fault?”

No, of course not. Nichkhun was never at fault and he was never wrong.

“Get a new phone.”

Wooyoung exhaled and the motion didn't go unnoticed by the older boy.

“Do you have a problem?”

“When can we meet again?”

“I don't know Wooyoung, I'm busy. I'll call you.”

As soon as he nodded, Wooyoung was escorted out of the room. Sure, he didn't blame Nichkhun because he was quite the busy business man but he was sure the older boy had some time off. He remembered the first few weeks they were together, Nichkhun had spent a few days with him and not just for a couple of hours.

It brought back to the question of why Wooyoung even bothered to begin with. Anyone could have seen that Nichkhun wasn't the best type of guy and with no time for them to be together, why try?

“There's just something about him,” Wooyoung had told his friends.

He had never seen his friends try so hard to get them to break up. Leave, was what they said. Stop talking to him. Don't even give him the time of day. Wooyoung assured them that he would never leave broken hearted and that some day Nichkhun would see the light in their relationship. He tried so hard and all his efforts were in vain.

While Nichkhun was in some girl's bed, rolling around in the sheets, Wooyoung was sitting alone in a cafe, sipping on his coffee. He knew that he would end up alone and for that reason, he picked a place he was comfortable with.

“Hey, you shouldn't be sitting alone.”

Wooyoung smiled, “Hey Junsu.”

“You look nicely dressed up. Don't tell me you had a date.”

“Mm, just enjoying my coffee.”

“Wooyoung, this isn't healthy.”

“Hyung, I'm here to enjoy my coffee.”

The older boy sighed before nodding his head and sipping on his coffee. The two boys talked about everything but love and soon Wooyoung found himself growing silent. The sound of his phone cleared the tension but it built up as he read the name on the screen.

“Don't answer it,” Junsu said against his mug.

“Hyung, I can't do that... Hello?” Wooyoung sighed, 'He's drunk again.' He closed his eyes, “Sorry, I'm busy... I always make time for you and you always ditch me!” Wooyoung lowered his voice, trying not to make a scene. “Of course I don't hate you Nichkhun, you just frustrate me sometimes... No I don't mean that kind of frustrate. Go to bed Nichkhun, I'll talk to you later.” He closed his phone and shoved it into his pocket, “Don't even say anything.”

“I'm proud of you Wooyoung, you didn't go running to him.”

“I do have a bit of pride you know.”

“Last time,” Wooyoung breathed out, trying to calm his heart. “This is it. I'm doing it tonight.”

He hadn't told Nichkhun about his plan because he knew it would never work if he had. Wooyoung was going to go over to the older boy's apartment and break up with him. How ever Nichkhun would react would be his answer to accept him or to completely break it off. Wooyoung was secretly hoping that the tall boy would chase after him and a small grin appeared on his face.

He knocked on the door, “Nichkhun?” He was surprised to find it unlocked at he stepped inside. Wooyoung wouldn't call their relationship steady but he was sure the older boy wouldn't mind if he walked into his apartment. He stumbled as he got passed the door, causing him to look down. His eyes widened as a set of shoes caught his eye, shoes that he was positive that Nichkhun wouldn't wear.

Swallowing his heart, Wooyoung slowly made his way towards the bedroom where he heard giggling and a manly growl. He held his breath as he slowly pushed the door open and he paused. There on the bed was Nichkhun pinning down a girl in her underwear. The tall boy raised a pillow but when the girl gasped, Nichkhun looked at the door. Nichkhun found himself looking into wide eyes, his own the same and he suddenly bolted off the bed and after the younger boy. “Wooyoung!”

The small boy was pinned against the door as Nichkhun trapped him. “Let me go,” Wooyoung said softly.

“Wooyoung wait. Please. Don't go.”

“This is it. It's a hint. It's saying, Wooyoung get a clue already.”

“Wooyoung please.”

“Get off me Nichkhun... Get off!” The small boy started to struggle but Nichkhun didn't let him go. He suddenly didn't want the older boy to chase or fight for him. He wanted to run and never see Nichkhun's face again.

“I don't want to let you go. I'm sorry.”

“Bullshit,” Wooyoung hissed. He was flipped around and forced to look the tall boy in the eyes.

“I love you.”

“Don't lie to me! You're a fucking bastard! I hate you!”

Nichkhun's palm met with the smaller boy's cheek and he instantly felt regret. He didn't know why he had done it and the glare he received from Wooyoung made him feel worse. “Wooyoung please, I'm so sorry. Please don't leave me. I'm sorry.” He was surprised by the suddenly force as Wooyoung pushed and kicked him in the stomach. He fell back onto the floor as the small boy opened the door and ran out.

~

“I've been a shitty boy-” Nichkhun paused. He wasn't Wooyoung's boyfriend, he had no right to call himself that. What was he to Wooyoung? What was Wooyoung to him? Why did it take this kind of event for him to realize how much of an asshole he was?

~

After Wooyoung ran off, Nichkhun felt alone and kicked the girl out of his apartment. He felt angry with the small boy. His own stupidity didn't even compute with him. Day grew into night and the Nichkhun's alcohol level grow more and more with each passing hour. He cried out for Wooyoung, apologizing to the younger boy for something he thought was wrong. After wallowing in self-pity, he decided that he hated Wooyoung for dumping him. “That asshole never had time for me! He'd rather be by himself! I need some air.”

He wobbled as he grabbed for his car keys and took the elevator down. He fell into his car, starting it up and driving like a maniac out of the parking garage. His tires squealed as they slid across the wet pavement and he pressed his foot harder on the gas only to stop instantly as something thud against the hood.

Being too intoxicated to grasp the situation, he sat in his car until he understood as people were shouting around him. He stumbled out of his car and there laying in front of it was a body. Panic suddenly filled Nichkhun, 'Shit, I'm so drunk! They'll bust me! I hope this person isn't dead!' He pushed through the crowd of people who were shouting for an ambulance. He fell to his knees, ignoring the comments about how he should've looked where he was driving even though this person had jumped out in front of him. One side was against him while the other was asking if Nichkhun was alright too. The hard rain was an excuse for both of them and his heart stopped once the face of the person came into his sight.

He reached out slowly, his fingers trembling as he touched the cold wet cheek. Nichkhun wouldn't have known it from the rain but tears were streaming down his face as he leaned over the unconscious boy, “W-Wooyoung... Wake up... This isn't funny. I'm sorry... Please wake up... Wooyoung!”

Nichkhun was screaming by the time the ambulance came. He was fighting the police and paramedics as they kept him away from the small boy. He wanted to go to the hospital but the alcohol in his breath was too evident for the cops to allow him to visit. He was hauled away and as soon as he was released, he made his way to the hospital.

“He's in a coma,” the doctor said, well Nichkhun overheard him say. No one would talk to him. “We don't know when he'll pull through.”

Nichkhun sighed in relief, 'At least he said when and not if.'

He found it better to avoid the hospital as friends of Wooyoung showed up for visits. He didn't like the glares he was receiving even though he tried to tell them that it was all just an accident. The time off allowed Nichkhun to realize just how much of a bad guy he had been to Wooyoung and he prayed for the day that the younger boy woke up. He wanted to start over, he wanted to prove to Wooyoung that he could be a better person. He wanted to show the small boy that he deserved so much more.

It wasn't right away when Nichkhun heard the news that Wooyoung had woken up. He raced to the hospital, soberly of course. He took a deep breath as he stepped into the room and all eyes were on him. His eyes stayed glued to the floor before his thighs met with the bed railing. Nichkhun looked up slowly, swallowing his guilt, “I'm sorry.”

“Were you the one that hit me?”

Wooyoung's voice was groggy but it was something that made Nichkhun's eyes sting. “Yes, I'm sorry.”

“They say that it was both of our faults... It was raining really hard that day and I guess I stepped out in front of you. I'm sorry too.”

Nichkhun smiled weakly, 'Just like him to say that. God I'm such an ass.'

“I'm sure they told you my name but they didn't tell me yours.”

His smile fell as he looked at Wooyoung, “What?”

“I'm sorry but I don't know your name. I guess... It doesn't really matter but I know I caused you some pain as well.”

“Nichkhun, can we talk outside for a moment?” Junsu pulled his arm gently and dragged him out of the room. “It seems that Wooyoung's forgotten all about you. I would say that this is the best thing that has ever happened to him because the only thing that he's going to come out of this with is a few bumps and bruises and no memory of you. If he had never met you, none of this would've happened.”

“Stop. I feel guilty enough. Trust me, I've a long time to think about how much of an asshole I've been. I don't deserve Wooyoung, I don't deserve another chance. Just let me... At least say goodbye.”

Nichkhun stepped into the room again and knelt next to the bed. “My name is not important. I just wanted to come to make sure you were alright. I'm really sorry. Sincerely.” He stood up and hugged the small boy, surprised when Wooyoung held him tightly. He gave a weak smile before excusing himself.

He fought the tears in his eyes as they threatened to spill over. It was true, it would be best for Wooyoung if he wasn't in his life, whether he remembered or not. He didn't deserve a second chance.

Nichkhun sighed as he stood at the cross walk. It had been several months since he decided to ditch his car and walk to work. The air was much nicer and he was spending less money too. He was about to step off the curb was a loud voice chirped at him from behind.

“Excuse me, you dropped this.”

“Oh, thank y-”

“Nichkhun!”

Nichkhun almost dropped the item if it hadn't been for the hand still holding his securely. “W-Wooyoung...”

“You know, I was kind of upset when you just left that day. I was hoping we could go for coffee some time if you're not busy. God that must sound weird because of what happened.”

The tall boy shook his head, “Coffee sounds nice.”

“Great! Uh, let me leave you my number. Oh we should exchange them and then you know, we can call each other.”

Nichkhun smiled, nodding his head and patting Wooyoung on the shoulder, “Yeah. Let's do that.”
