OK, maybe I wouldn't call it an adventure, but it sure was fun.
I took about an hour and a half nap after work on Saturday. I went out and picked up Buffy at around 11. We stopped by Aaron Dell's housewarming party while we waited for Ben to get off of work. We left Greensboro at around midnight.
We drove to Virginia Beach. It took about 4-5 hours. We picked up Anna and went to the waterfront to watch the sunrise. We also saw dolphins and surfers. It was neat watching the beach wake up.
We left at around 6 am? Or maybe 7. Either way, we got to the Franconia-Springfield metro station at around 10 and started our day. We rode the metro to L'Enfant and found this neat Mexican restaurant called Oyamel off of 7th Street. Pretty expensive, but pretty damn good. We went to the National Gallery of Art. Then Ben and I went to the Natural History museum. It was so crowded. We met up with Buffy and Anna again at the Hirshhorn museum. We looked at modern art. By this time, everyone was pretty exhausted, so we hopped back on the metro and got to the Best Western my parents found for us. We showered and rested and stuff before going back out to Chinatown for dinner. We ate at the Chinese restaurant next to the on Jenn and Alex Bowman and I ate at last time I was there. We walked around after dinner and came across the NPR studio. Then we went back to the hotel, where I passed out immediately at around 11:30 pm. I had been up for more than 24 hours, driving and walking and driving and walking.
We woke up at around 9 or 10 the next morning. There was construction going on in the conference room across the hall from us. The housekeeping ladies kept knocking, too, despite the Do Not Disturb sign on our door knob. Not the best way to wake up. We laid around, trying to ignore all of the interruptions and get as much sleep as we could squeeze in. We checked out at around noon. I felt awake, but not particularly well rested. We took the metro to the zoo and spent the majority of the afternoon there. That was pretty fun. We left the zoo at around 5-ish and walked down Connecticut Ave. back towards the metro station in search of food. We found 4 Indian restaurants in the same block and ate at the first one we came to. It was so good especially because all I had that day were two granola bars, a vitamin water, and some melon gummies.
We started our drive back at around 8, I'm guessing. We got to Virginia Beach at around 11:30. Buffy drove half way back to Greensboro before we switched off again. We got into Greensboro at around 4 this morning. I dropped Buffy and Ben off at their homes and got home at around 5. I got about 6 hours of sleep before I had to come here to work. But really, it was fun. It was just good to get out of Greensboro with good company.
