I haven't slept more than a couple of hours any night for the last week or more. When I lay down in bed, the wheezing begins in earnest and I just can't fall alseep. If I do happen to doze off, either the wheezing will wake me up or the various aches and pains in my shoulder and back will. I can't take any of my strong meds because they'll knock me out to the point where I can't get up for work. I'm taking handfuls of OTC decongestants and mucous thinners in an effort to try to thin things out in my chest. It's 11:40pm right now and I want to give it a chance to kick in before going to bed and trying, yet again, for more than half a night's sleep.
On top of it, I'm dealing with a devastating case of writer's block regarding my Latin America class. The paper is an 8-10 pager, and my focus is on how the writers of the various books we read in class treated the interactions between the United States military when they were an occupying force (in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Mexico) and the local citizens. I want to examine how the writers portrayed that relationship and whether it seemed more sympathetic to one side or the other. So far, despite reading and taking notes and sitting and writing for the past four days, I've accomplished only about 2.5 pages. Of mostly expository crap. I have to have this wrapped up and sealed with a pretty bow by Tuesday, a week late already.
I might try writing one of the German history book reviews and see if that mixes things up a little. But I don't know if I'll really have time. The crunch is totally getting too tight to even have wiggle room.
I just felt the need to vent a little bit. Comments are disabled since I don't want this to be seen as a ploy to get a pity party. I just needed to spend some time ranting while the meds are doing thier thing. Everything will seem much rosier after the 24th, when everything needs to be finished and this semester can be put to bed.
Speaking of bed... G'night.
