The Senate defeated a measure 50-48 that would have allowed a vote on a constitutional ammendment to ban gay marriage. Awesome! They won't even get a chance to vote on it... Go Congress, go!
Rick Santorum had this to say:
"I would argue that the future of our country hangs in the balance because the future of marriage hangs in the balance. Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?"
What a fucking asshole. Is this what Republicans have to do to reach people who don't agree with their Puritan-era social agenda? Tie everything in with terrorism? Apparently gay people in monogamous relationships were the folks who flew those planes into the World Trade Center. Mmhmm. Pesky queers!
