Character Information:

Character Name: Captain Jack Harkness
Age: Technically 2161 give or take. Looks like he's in his early 40s.
Canon: Doctor Who/Torchwood
Appearance:

Jack is a very handsome charming man. He has brown hair that he keeps short and baby blue eyes. His radiant smile is like infectious and he works out often so his body has good muscle tone. He is 6 foot tall (183cm) and is rarely seen without his trademark navy blue greatcoat in a style reminiscent of World War II. Beneath this greatcoat Jack tends to dress casual formal with button down shirts, suspenders, and pleated trousers. He also tends to take his clothes off relatively often and is proud of his appearance. It could be odd that he has no scars and his skin looks incredibly youthful.

Personality:

The personality Jack shows to the world often depends on the situation he's presented with. Generally, Jack Harkness is the universe's biggest flirt. He's had more sexual encounters than he can remember and is completely open minded about everything. Men, Women, non-gendered, Alien... Jack doesn't care as long as a good time is had by both. He has a very good sense of humour and a slightly childish nature in how he teases his friends.

As the leader of Torchwood, Jack could be ruthless, aggressive, and without compassion. He could be cold and unfeeling as he gunned down anything he thought was a threat. But underneath this harsh exterior, Jack ultimately cared for his team. They were important to him and he would not let even death take them away from him.

Jack also tends to act differently while under the authority of those he respects. He was a loyal volunteer soldier during both World War I and World War II, fighting for the United Kingdom. Then, of course, there is how he acts while with The Doctor.

The Doctor will always hold a special place in Jack's heart. Jack is awed by what he his, and forever grateful to be considered a friend and companion. When with the Doctor, despite his vast knowledge of the same topics, Jack will always defer to the Time Lord. He might give suggestions and take action, but the Doctor runs things and Jack wouldn't have it any other way.

Jack also lost faith in humanity and the rough decisions he was forced to make at one point, having sacrificed those nearest and dearest to him. He was overcome with dealing with the enormous feelings associated with being immortal and having to deal with the deaths of everyone he knows and cares for. He regained it enough to help with a new crisis, though he still struggles with it on occasion.

This was challenged recently, as Jack was briefly made mortal again. During this period, after so much time spent being immortal, Jack discovered he absolutely does not wish for death. He is afraid of it and was willing to do absolutely anything, including the murder of his closest friend, in order to prevent it from happening. Luckily it did not come to that and Jack was reminded that there are things worth dying for. In this light, the idea of dying for a cause, to save the world and his friends, Jack would accept death and allowed himself to be shot through the heart.

Then he woke up again.

Background:

Canon point:

I am playing Jack current through the end of the most recent canon. This could present spoilers for those who have yet to watch it.

I normally play a different canon point, but this new season was just too good and shaped Jack too much for me to consider it a disservice to Russell T Davies should I ignore it. I also am interested to see this version of Jack interact with canon-mates, especially The Doctor.

Special Abilities:

Jack is immortal in his canon. He can be hurt, bleed, feels pain and anguish, and can die, but he always comes back with a gasp of air and a mended body. The time it takes for him to wake up again tends to vary based on story, but seems to revolve more around the amount of damage he took. When jumping from a building, he can wake up before it takes a normal man to reach the ground running down the stairs from the top. After being shot, he'll wake up in a matter of minutes. When allowing a great beast to suck his life-force from him, it took him about 3 days. After having a bomb implanted into his stomach, his body regrew itself in 24 hours.

I am willing to work with the mods about this power. I understand something like this can break a game. Jack just spent a little over 2 months being completely mortal again, so there is canon reference for his reaction to it if you guys would rather that to be the case. It's really up to you and what you feel is best for this game.

Sect:

I'd like Jack to be a civilian for now.

Job:

In Jack's past, he was a pilot and a con man. I think he'd be perfect for the role of smuggler. He would be able to pilot his own ship as well.

Samples:

First Person:

[static until the picture adjusts to a face in mid-sentence]...-is thing on? Wait, there we go. Been a while since I've seen one of these. Captain Jack Harkness signing on. Hello out there! This is all strange yet startlingly familiar at the same time.

I probably shouldn't say too much right now, but if anyone's interested in saying hello in a more... personal manner, I'll be in the Cantina on four. [a smirk and a wink accompany this.] Hope to see you later... [video feed ends]

Third Person:

Jack hurried to the spot he'd received the coordinates for, greatcoat billowing behind him. It had been over 2000 years of his life since he'd last been shuffled to and fro between marks and clients. Granted he had been asleep for about 1900 of that, but he was still pretty rusty. And on this day, with his new client, Jack wasn't about to be late.

Arriving at the door with minutes to spare, Harkness checked to make sure his blaster was within easy reach. He wasn't entirely certain what type of damage a lazer blast to the face of whatever those things with the twin head tails were called would cause, but he was willing to bet it would provide enough distraction for him to slip away. And if it didn't, well, he sure as hell wouldn't be captured without a fight.

Pressing the activator, Jack entered the small cantina looking as casual as he could. His eyes were actively searching for threats but his body was relaxed as he made his way past the bar and into the pazaak den in back. There, he found the blue-skinned man with head-tails he had been referred to and couldn't help but pause to wonder just how those tails would feel rubbing against his naked body.

Smothering a smirk, the Captain walked over to his new client and introduced himself, wondering how he had gotten so lucky to end up in a new universe full of new bodies to explore.

"Captain Jack Harkness. I was referred to you by a man I think you know, Jolee Bindo. I hear you have some cargo you'd like shipped to the Outer Rim?"

Anything Else:

I hope it's okay for Jack to be promiscuous... and potentially R-rated. I read the bit about adding ratings to things. Please feel free to tell me when/if I ever go too far with him. I also tend to like blue milk.
