I've apparently given up on them ever so slightly...lets review:
- Exercise more - Well with the rain and the whole being terrified of 4x4s trying to kill me, I've somewhat failed to do any running. I have however done at least 2 hours worth of walking on Sundays, which is an improvement at least. Ballet is back on now, so that's a couple of hours worth of dancing a week, and with my private lesson each week, my technique should improve also.
- Study more - This one I'm struggling with, whether it's just getting back into the swing of things after the Christmas break, or the crippling fear that it's my last year and I've got 5 months left until the exams, I seem to not be able to concentrate and get on with it. I made a timetable though. So you know...I'm trying to time manage myself, just failing in the execution.
- Eat healthier - I had a McDonalds for lunch...enough said! I have bought some healthy food cook books, just need to plan myself better so that I'm organised enough to actually have the food in the house!
- Less time playing World of Warcraft - This one I have succeeded on very well, I set up parental controls against myself, and that little deterrent has kept me from logging on until 8pm on weeknights and 6pm on weekends. So no more giving up on studying and logging on at 4pm just because it's home time for school kids!
- Less time wasting on the internet - This one I'm failing at quite dramatically, as we can see by my very presence right now! I get sucked into fanfic on LJ, checking Facebook, checking the BBC News and just anything else that will keep me occupied so I don't have to do actual work.
It is only the 12th of January, so I suppose I shouldn't have expected a miracle personality change, but I hoped I might be able to at least start well! I think this is going to require long term action! I will keep trying, the studying and less time wasting ones are the most important, I really do want to do well on my degree, I would very much like a first after all.
So! Starting next week (yes I know, that old chestnut but this week is a bit disjointed), I will get up at 8am each morning, spend no more than an hour browsing the web and then use my time productively for the rest of the day. Go Team Dino!
On another note, I'm very excited for my school visit on Friday, I'm shadowing the science teachers at a local school for the day to see if I want to apply to do a PGCE next year. I'm pretty sure I do, I really enjoy teaching people and explaining things, plus I think science is awesome, but I need to spend some time in schools for my application and it's always best to just confirm it before going into it head first. Which is how I usually do things, as fun as it may be, but they seem want people who've at least thought about what they are doing for more than 5 minutes.
I think it's probably about time I got on with some work today...that microbiology report isn't going to write its self!
