And now the bit in the middle

Christmas is all done and over now, well sort of, we've still got second Christmas with Husband's sister and her daughter on Friday but that will be a much quieter affair I think...weeeeell that also depends on how much Husband and sister-in-law decide to drink as it's New Years Eve, which is also likely. I, as always, will be the designated driver, being alcohol intolerant does have it's benefits, there are no arguments about who has to drive back from nights out and there is always someone to drive us back. But I do miss being able to have a social drink and I generally get looked down upon for ordering a coke when we go to nice restaurants, ah well, at least I have a happy liver.

Christmas day was very nice, with Husband's family and a friend, it was all very pleasant and jolly. We got some very nice gifts, Husband got me a iMac (which I've had for 2 weeks now if I'm being honest!) and a racoon hat, which is awesome. I bought a studio tutorial session for Husband with a professional photographer and a model, he was rather happy with that one :) And from my parent-in-laws, tickets to see The Trocks, which I'm very excited about!

So now comes the time when I should really be getting on with some work again, Christmas over, New Year almost out of the way, 3 reports to write and my final project to begin writing, term starting again in a week and a half...motivation is pretty low right now! I have, however, taken my first steps towards getting fit again! Since the wedding, I've done nothing, hardly any exercise at all, my 9 dance classes a week got cut down to 4 because of silly university timetables giving us evening lectures, I've been eating so many cream cakes as well! Anyway, so I decided to get back into shape, I did a hour and a half walk today round the village and golf course (which is much bigger than I thought it was) as a tester for a running route. It seems pretty good for running on, I've never done running before, always looks quite boring and a lot of hard work, but it's supposed to be one of the best ways to lose weight, so I'm giving it a go! The route does take me onto the country roads before I can get to the bridleway round the golf club....cars are scary, seriously, it was horrible, there are no pavements in our village so I'm used to that, but on the roads out of the village people drive so fast, it's terrifying! Once off the roads though, the route is quite nice but still icy, so not great for running on yet, which is just as well, an hour and a half of walking completely knackered me! It's good to feel my body doing something again though and I took a couple of pictures on my iPhone when I came out of the woods to a rather nice view:

Yeah it's an iPhone picture, so it's pretty naff, but it was super foggy out today so I'll let it off, but that view in the summer on a clear warm day will be pretty rewarding. As well as the running I've asked my ballet teacher for a weekly private lesson so I can get back on track again and hopefully do some more pointe! I've missed feeling like I have a strong body. I took up ballet as an adult 3 years ago, and I've been addicted to it ever since, the past few months, I've been so busy in the lab almost every day till late that I've not been able to get to as many classes as I usually do, but hopefully I can change that next term and become a super flailing ballerina once again!

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year!
