Catching up - post 1 - Camera!

Since a lot of happened and I was not posting anything meaningful, I am going to do more posts chronologically.

POST 1:
I finally bought a new camera!

I sincerely apologize to all I have bothered with this piece of technology.

After reading a lot of reviews, consulting a lot of friends (I am never able to make a decision alone I guess) I finally bought it:

Canon IXUS 850 IS also known as Canon SD800

I was deciding between Olympus mju, Fuji FinePix F31fd and Canon IXUS 850 and 900.

In the end the choice was between Fuji and IXUS 850.
What I liked most on Fuji's Finepix was slightly better Face Detection technology then the Canon, VERY good photos in low light conditions, manual settings of aperture and exposition.
Against it stood IXUS 850 with partially manual settings, wide-angle objective, lots of automatic functions for nice shots without time to prepare. Ok, I admit it, I like the wide-angle objective.

What decided in the end were the people who had both of these cameras and they had much more problems with Fuji then Canon. The manufacturing is just a little better.

Still, there are some problems with my new camera, one pixel on the chip is burned out. But that is a minor problem, nothing a photo shop or a fast reclamation would not correct.

I took my camera for a walk and when I returned, 30 minutes later, I had already a few spring pictures that some people asked to use as wallpaper :) I just have luck and nice camera :D

What I really like is the possibility to do multiple pictures. Very useful when for example photographing playing kittens. Quicksilver is not as fast as they are!

I will post some pictures later, for now, I am trying to figure out all the functions and learn something about photographing.
I hope when I get any good in this, maybe I could buy some "normal" (not compact) camera with lots of manual functions. The first camera I ever had was an old Fujika, I made the best pictures on her.

For now, I just wanted a small compact camera that I could carry everywhere in my mini handbag and take shots when I see something worth it.
For that, I of course need a cover for it. All I can say, look at http://www.caselogic.com/. I would say they offer for good prices great quality and protection. Hope this does not sound like an advertisement on condoms.
