I'm avoiding sleep and thinking of things to do in one week. School is out, but here's where the real work starts: the coordination of group projects, term papers and national competitions you're forced to enter, for "credit". The meeting with various people you work with on human rights issues, food projects, journalist assignments, social research and the most random, important and enjoyable national campaigns. Taking the bus down to vegan cafes in town (with wifi) to type, edit, email, facebook. And, always, leaving the planning of life to later. I guess, instead of sleeping, I'm forcing myself to think about life. About where this year, 2010, will lead to and what will happen in the long stretches of break that intersperse the heart-stopping pace of school. There's next week, June, a week in September and the whole of December. I have nothing left to "do": the scholarship internship's cleared, as has summer school, student exchange and a flurry of undergraduate conferences on 'the city'. Of course, things will get busy on the activist front, as it always is: depending on the time of the year and the most recent mistakes made, we'll be protesting against the death penalty, undemocratic countries, migrant rights, economic justice. Sometimes, I will write about these things. Usually, I just immerse myself in the flow of things, chip in where I can, and spend commutes reflecting about how things could be different, better. I would like to curate an exhibition of the zines I brought back from London, though. I hope that works out.
