california and flat
last night i told jonathan i was going to start walking to and from school - i mean, its a nice walk, the weather is pretty fantastical, and going there is all down hill - coming home is the part where id really use my unknown muscles - that was only if i woke up on time - i trusted his phone alarm would wake me up like my cell phone alarm does - but it only went off once - where as my cell phone keeps going off every 10-15 minutes - so i overslept - meaning, i was running late (didn't even get to take a shower) and i had to take the cable car
but since im a firm believer that "everything happens for a reason" - i wasn't too bent on choice of transportation
i usually pick the left side of the cable car - but today i chose the right side
as we were approaching my stop i noticed a small grey car with a soon to be flat tire - the car was carrying a man, a woman and three small children
i popped off at my stop - and briskly walked towards the car but the man was driving off - luckily i caught up to the lady that had just been dropped off
me: miss ... miss
her: yes?
me: i just wanted to let you know, your car has a flat tire in the front - front driver side... i noticed it as i was riding on the cable car... and you have children in the back seat...
her: omg omg .. thank you so much, i knew it was getting flat, i drove it this morning to pick up the kids - and i told my husband that i thought it was getting flat.. thank youuuu so much
me: oh.. no problem... maybe you can call him on his cell or something and let him know
her: (reaching into her purse for her cell phone).... ohhh thank you, thank you ... thank you ....
me: youre welcome .. have a nice day
as i was walking off i barely hear her call for me - because i was JUST putting on my headphones
her: miss.... miss....
me: yea...??
her: my cell phone is dead... do you have one that i can use for a minute?
me: ohh totally..... (handing her my cell phone)
she dials - she contacts her husband...
thats my good deed for the day
who knows .. i could have saved that family from purchasing new tire, prevented an accident, or saved them from being stuck somewhere for hours .. waiting for a tow truck
recently, ive been catching myself helping out others - at the most random times and without hesistation
ive decided - im going to make note of all the good that i do in this world for other people (which is actually a lot) - its time to focus on the good !!
i hope that if YOU are out and about - and you spot something like a flat tire, that you let the driver aware - its a good feeling, you know?
especially when you live in a big city - and driving cars are kinda.... silly - when you have six different means of transportation - its good to have your eye out for things like this...
