So I've done gone and landed myself a real job. I don't really know how it happened, it happened all too fast (just within the last week), but I now have a cubicle and a desk and wear business casual clothes and speak in hushed tones.

I had put my resume on monster.com a month or so ago and didn't really do much about it, and a lady from a local corporation called me up the week before last to interview to be an executive administrative assistant (Whe I told my brother I'd be the assitant to the CEO, he said, "Assistant CEO?"). I went in and interviewed on Monday, she called me Tuesday and wanted me for a different position, so I interviewed Wednesday and then on Friday, I met with the owner of the corporation and they made me an offer. It was the most insane week ever. In between interviews I subbed in gym class, so I either wore a suit or sweats all bloody week.

I started on Monday, and it's been an adjustment. I've been exhausted and out of sorts, and haven't ventured far from my treehouse. I've been going to bed an hour or two earlier than normal, which is strange. I know I'll adjust to it, but for now, it feels like I'm acting in a movie, it's just unreal. And no, I didn't want an office job because I like The Office. Jim Halpert and Michael Scott do not work there, although there is a guy somewhere in the building named Eric Stoltz, so I keep expecting to see some redheaded dude wandering around waving a pair of diamond earrings.

I know I'm so lucky to actually get a job when so many others are looking. It'll be stressful, since I'm scheduling and coordinating 75 guys in the field all over the country, working on projects for a few major stores. It'll be slow until after Christmas, so it's a good time for me to start.

The best part is that I get benefits!! and a 401K! and a turkey next week!

It's weird not having as much time to spend in my treehouse, though I did pimp it out like crazy for Christmas this past weekend. I pulled out the dishcloths, the apron and the quilt I made a few years ago. I might put up my cute little fakey tree tonight before Rachel comes over for Top Chef.

I've been mad cooking and baking, too. In the past few weeks I've made a couple of squashes, homemade mac and cheese, oatmeal cookies, pumpkin bread and gingerbread. I also learned the family recipe for cannoli shells last weekend when Marcy, Jannis and I helped Grandma and Aunt Sharon make 36 dozen shells. Somehow, between the various bits of knowledge of all 15 of us kids, we could make cannoli shells and cream.

It's been so hard to get out of bed since it's gotten so cold; I love my little bed under the eaves. I have three quilts on it, and I've been putting my heating pad at my feet, so it is extra awesome, and it's just so nice to snuggle under. However, the strip of light from the side of my blinds does help wake me, so I might be in big  trouble when I sew up the curtains for the window.

I guess wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed that I don't screw up any TPS reports or anything...
