pre-emptive delay excuses

Hello! It may take a little longer to get this week's recap out (again). Not because I have anything better to do today, but because this episode and I have had some...issues, and it has taken a LOT of sugar to even get to the point where I can even hit play and watch it again. Later, at a more acceptable time, there will be wine on hand to assist ( Read more... )

Ugh, yes, that is exactly what I mean. I get that Arthurian legend is a tragedy, and if they want to go down that route, that's fine. But it has to make SENSE. I'm willing to cut the fun and silly plots a lot more slack BECAUSE they're fun and silly. They can't just decide, okay, now our story is going to be mature without ensuring their storytelling is also at the same level of maturity.

And, yeah, we kind of skipped the good years of Camelot that they'd been working towards for four series. But I think Merlin's endgame was to have Arthur unite all of Albion (hopefully with the help of his magic) which hasn't happened yet. It is beginning to, but I'm not sure we can get there by the end of this year, especially after this week's episode.

I can actually see Arthur dying without he and Merlin fulfilling their destiny this time, but then given (via the dragon or something) a chance to try again in their next life, and then we'll see old bearded WISE Merlin waking Arthur up and we leave them with the HOPE we saw in series one, that this time they'll get it right. Or something like this which pretty much negates any reason for watching five years of ultimately nothing. (That's the crux of my current crisis with the show actually - I'm terrifed that, in the end, I'm going to wonder why we even bothered. And I AM dealing with that. Because it HAS been fun and I do still love it. It's just...taking a bit more time than it usually does when the show inevitably disappoints me.)

GAH, DRAMATIC. Sorry.
