HEMMO HAS BEEN CAST AS THOR!
I am currently sitting here torn between squeeing or laughing out loud at how amazing this all is. I keep remembering our sweet little Kimothy on his first day at Summer Bay High, and now he's going to be a fucking NORSE GOD.
This will surely mean a multi-picture deal, right? And he's likely to get to play in that Marvel sandbox with Iron Man and Hulk and...OMG, even if DC is my universe, this is exciting.
And there should be lots and lots of Hemsworth skin on display (hope you've gotten over that particular hang-up, baby *g*). I hope they don't make him too muscle-bound - something along the lines of Brandon Routh's transformation for Superman would do me - Hemmo is naturally bulkier than BJ anyway, so I think it would work.
AND NOT ONLY THAT, but according to Screenrant, He has also been cast as the lead in the remake of Red Dawn.
I love you, Hemmo, and you totally deserve all this. \o/

The way Chris Hemsworth got the part of Thor is one of those great Hollywood backstories that happens only once in a blue moon. Ward had found Chris during one of the manager's many scouting trips to Australia. Ward brought him to Los Angeles and really put him out there to casting directors and production executives. As for the major agencies, I hear CAA passed on the meeting, Endeavor took it but passed on repping him, and ICM was interested but dragged their feet. But Eileen Feldman got his appeal immediately.
Chris had read for the part of Thor but wasn't given a test because a casting director had nixed him early on. I'm told Chris' younger brother Liam (who's also a ROAR client) then tested for the role of Thor, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige passed. Then, after a conversation with Ward ("You've got to reconsider Chris, he's your guy"), Feige decided to let Chris read again. And once Marvel put him on tape, it was "Oh my god". Branagh came to town last week and saw the Chris test and made the final casting decision today.
Oh My God, this is awesome.

ETA: Um, this is actually all pending on an official announcement, I guess. But we got that with Cabin after the rumours, so I am hopeful. And even if it ends up not being true, it will have created awesome buzz around the place.
