i heart christmas

Yesterday, we got a shiny new high-def plasma TV for Christmas! Well, correction, my *dad* bought it for himself, but I fully intend to take advantage when I'm home on weekends. *g* He's been talking about a big TV now they're home again but we figured it wouldn't be until after the Peru gig (which starts just after Christmas), so colour us surprised when my sister had to stop into Retravision to return a guitar Andrew had borrowed from a guy who works there and Dad came with us to "have a quick look" at TVs. The quick look turned into a long discussion with the sales guy and then Dad turned to us and asked us which one we liked best. We both picked the same one, which happened to be the most expensive, and he just said okay then, we'll take it.

If only he'd done that with the adorable tabby kitten at the racecourse markets earlier yesterday morning, my Christmas would have been complete! Heh.

The rest of the weekend was spent getting all remaining Pimpsmas packages in the mail (I hope everything arrives on time) and baking. The usual dodgy/porny gingerbread persons are done, and we invented another recipe as is tradition - Plum Pudding Biscuits (or cookies for those of you who speak funny *g*). We took the base recipe for tollhouse biscuits and combined it with the plum pudding recipe (the spices & syrups, mixed fruit soaked in rum, cherries and chopped pecan nuts), spooned onto trays and baked. And out came yummy, yummy biscuits! It was a very humid day and the biscuits went a little soft so we're not sure if the recipe needs tweaking or it was just the weather. Hopefully the next batch will be crunchier. (So, lyrian, when yours arrive they will probably not be as crispy as they're supposed to - just to let you know).

I just have to pick up a couple more gifts for the dogs and I'm done. Bring on the holidays!

rl, christmas
