This pretty much sums up my response to all those rabid Logan fans at the moment.
For every adoring fangirl that is willing to list the myriad factors that have created the adorable, wonderful Logan Echolls -- dead girlfriend, dead mother, abusive, murderous father -- there is a startlingly hollow nothing, a count of zero, when it comes to fan defense of season three's version of Veronica Mars. If you went by popular fandom response, this is a bitch that sprung fully bitched from her father's head, like Athena from Zeus.
I'll admit that Stepford!Logan (who used that first? I can't recall right now) has been a concern of mine but I love that the cracks are finally showing. Their arguments, where they're *both* right in their own way, make sense. See, I can understand why Logan wants Veronica to change if he does, and that'd be a totally valid point in the real world. But this is a TV show. And as a viewer of a TV show, I kinda want Veronica to put herself in danger solving mysteries every week because, dude, how boring would it be if she *didn't*.
So if I'm hypocritical and guilty of taking sides on this one, that's why. I'm selfish and want to watch and enjoy the show. And my enjoyment is *not* limited to Logan for an hour a week. It's not that I dislike Logan, because I don't, and I find him interesting in his own right, but I'm beginning to dislike a good portion of Logan fans and that colours my view of him, even when I try not to let it.
P.S. I love Dick. And Lamb. And Wallace. So many moments of squee. I also love that when Veronica's relationship with Logan is all tense and crumbling, she gets all giddy and hyper around Dick and Keith. Girl's got issues. But that's what makes it interesting.
