This year will mark my first NaNo failure. I *could* conceivably make an effort and get the word count in the remainder of the month but I'm not really that motivated and, dude, I'd much rather spend my time rolling out the Pimpsmas packages (which is *fun* and fills my heart with fannish joy) and possibly throwing a certain bestest TV Boyfriend a kickass bachelor party this week. Heh.
Darcy's hips have been playing up again so it's back to the vet every weekend for another series of injections and he may have to stay on (expensive) meds for the rest of his life. But it makes him feel better so it's worth it. In the waiting room, Darcy was intimidated by a tiny Shi Tzu puppy to the point that he tried to crawl under my chair and hide. Hilarious because he's too big to *fit* under the chair and everyone, including the puppy, laughed at him. He tried to regain some respect by barking at a Lab on the way out but nobody was fooled.
We then bought a new TV because the picture tube in the old one has been crapping out for quite some time. Yay! We have actual clear pictures! We also checked out the plasmas because it seems we're getting one of them next year for the lounge room nobody uses (but soon will).
And now comes the fun part - something appears to have died inside the chimney and is making a disgusting stench. Airing the place out has helped with the smell (and it's the part of the house we don't really use much anyway) but the worst part is that I noticed something crawling on the carpet and, yep, icky creepy little maggots are falling into the fireplace and crawling out. *shudder* So we blocked it all off with newspaper, tape and cotton wool and it seems to be keeping them out for the most part. I'm hoping it's just a rat who died on a ledge or something, and not, say, a possum who got stuck/wedged down the chimney. Because it that's the case, we can expect a decomposed carcass to drop any day and I'm not sure anyone could handle that. Ew. So, so glad I'm not there during the week.
Now I have TV to catch up on. And Brandon Routh stuff because I've missed him a little and an anxiously awaiting the DVD (and also Man of Steel but I think I've got just a little longer to wait for that one *g*)
