Okay, first up, I'm gonna apologise in advance for any *more* typing error than usual because I have my right index finger bandaged up after an incident with the dogs resulting in my nail being ripped from my finger. It hurts a little, but I was very brave and willed the bleeding to stop so I didn't have to go to hospital and miss seeing Serenity

So, yeah, she enjoyed it, but wasn't as into it as me, obviously. She also said she kept getting distracted by the silhouetted ear hair of a guy in front of us every time the screen shone light at him. And there I was thinking she was laughing at the jokes onscreen. *g*
And honestly, the Wash thing didn't affect me as much as everyone else, it seems. It made me fear for every single character in the final battle, which was the intention, I guess, and, well, from a Joss-trick point of view I did kinda dig the reaction it got in our theatre where that relieved laughter suddenly morphed into a horrific gasp. Such a Joss moment and I'm going to be evil and admit that maybe a little bit of pride at that crept in.
I can understand that it was done for the benefit of the newbies at the expense of the fans, and I can *get* why fans are reacting the way they are, but I just don't feel it myself. *Book*, on the other hand... Heh.

I gotta say, not that I didn't *love* Wash for his random funnyness, but I loved him most for what he was to Zoe. Damn, that marriage was close to my heart. *pain*

Hee. It was a *masterful* moment, really. Still very cruel. But masterful, man. And I won't listen to anybody who says it was "unnecessary," because dude. Firefly was always about the people who get up and keep flying after horror. And that's exactly what he did! That whole sequence post-crash landing was like a horror movie, very dark, with the Zombie-like enemy, and they didn't come out scratch-free, but in the end they just kept flying for the sake of flying, man. And that is a darn cool statement, even if it did leave me feeling a little red-eyed and battle-worn.

Yeah, see, I didn't realize Book was one of your favorite characters. I never really connected with him, myself. Man, in the next one--even with flashbacks, which I've already decided in my head there will *obviously* be--there's gonna be a lot less to keep track of. I mean, if you think about it, that ship's gonna be awful empty, especially if people start pairing off...stick Simon with Kaylee, Mal with Zoe just for theory's sake, Inara maybe will get back to being a Companion (won't that be a surprise for the new audience), and that would leave Jayne with, er, River...or possibly with the two of them sneaking around air ducts watching everybody else copulate. Heh.
