Progress?

So it feels like progress.  Piedmont College said they'd schedule an interview with me in a few weeks for part-time instructors.  Mirko pasta is trying to get in touch with me . . .about an interview, I assume.  My friend at Office Max said they're hiring right now.  I have an interview with Kaplan (step two: the audition went well) tomorrow.  And I can always try typing at the transcription service.  So I have several possibly could have a job's, but I don't have any for sure yay I have a job's.

After sending my first 15 pages to my major prof a few weeks ago she just emailed me and asked if I could resend the file because it's missing.  Which means this is the first she's even attempted to read it.  I can't judge; I'm clearly behind.  Oh, and get THIS.  Some folks I started my program with have already defended and so that sucks for self-esteem, but my friend Josh and I are still going strong on the slack til summer plan.  But then, BUT THEN! the slacker man from my program comes into the lab and tells me he's defending on thursday.  I hide my astonishment that he's so on top of things.  Then he tells me that his entire thesis is only 30 pages, that his reading list (what should be about 25 to 30 books that you discuss during your defense) is all of 6 books.  And his major professor is the head of the department, who told him all of this would be fine!  I'm technically at 35 pages right now and I'm only half finished.  Ok, logically I don't want to go for the crappy version of education; another humanties degree is ridiculous if it's only about the piece of paper, especially because I might be working retail very soon.  And yet I can't help but long for the easy out, where I finish WITHOUT dashing my brain against the wall.  ARghhh!  Okay, I'm done.

This weekend beatle123 came for a visit and watched Picasso at the Lapin Agile with me.  Excellent show, beautiful set.  We also went on the Athens Garden tour with Cord and looked at rich people's houses.  They put our garden to shame, but looking at everyone else's just made me all the more excited about watching things grow in ours.  The raspberry vine is ridiculously large and berries are starting to form.  We have dutch irises and cannas coming up that i transplanted last year in the front yard.  the oregano is coming back with a vengeance and all our vegetables are growing.  Our lettuce even looks like real lettuce!  My friend Laurie laughed at my excitement and told me I'm a very clean hippie.  I'm cool with that, but I think my hemp jewelry days are over.
