I can't even remember the last time I was this tired. Today is all day in the lab pretty much, with a lunch break that I spent combing through shakespeare society publications. But knowing that I had an early day, I still joined the poker game at my kitchen table last night and bought in a second time when I should have put on my jammies. I did much better the second time because I stopped caring so much about losing; the buy in was a dollar. But I was just excited to infiltrate this final bastion of masculinity. And as expected it was a whole lot of aggression displays and fanning of peacock feathers to scare the other folks, neither of which I am good at. Couple with that my lousy luck and I really never have anything to beat my chest about. That being said it was a good education. . .in time management because today I'm barely functioning.
I planted an herb garden near the driveway this past weekend and started some more stuff in pots. Some folks from up the hill have mulch they're trying to get rid of so we just have to move it. But goddamn that stuff is heavy. And my friend made me some bee earrings in preparation for the bees Cord should be ordering soon. It's unfortunate that I'm not that big a fan of honey, but unemployment might just change my mind about that.
I'm presenting an abbreviated version of my thesis on Saturday at the English Graduate Organization Colloquium. It sounds much fancier than it is, but I expect not many will come out voluntarily on a Saturday so I'll mostly present to other presenters who might have some feedback for me, which is nice since I have yet to get any from my major professor (bitter--party of one). So wish me luck, and maybe this will push me toward getting done.
