I'm using the end of analog TV to break my watching habits. I do this every few years. Once I got a seasonal job at a book store because I was watching more television than I wanted.
This week 2 of the 3 stations I watch opted to close out their full power analog programing leaving me with the 10pm-1pm slot of sort of watchable sitcoms. I am opting out of watching shows that at best I have seen before (Scrubs, the first 3 seasons) to shows I am just too lazy to turn off (Everybody loves Raymond).
Also with my coffee dealer shop closing I don't have a strong need to park in Fells Point and walk into work anymore. I started taking lightrail and enjoying podcasts and reading and getting to work at about the same time. As the pattern holds I immediately caught a cold that I am blaming on mixing with the general public on the lightrail. When the weather warms I am very excited to start biking to work.
My mom points out that by this spring I will be one of those annoying people who bike instead of drive and don't watch TV.
