Well, we just got back from the charity auction. Procurement wasn't as good this year compared to prior years, but we still did a few things. The charity sponsors a village in Cameroon among other things, and one of the things we did was a straight donation to activities in Cameroon. In the silent auction we got 3 hours worth of housecleaning services and a furnace checkup. Yeah, exciting I know...lol. There just wasn't much that had the wow factor for me. One thing we donated, which was a BBQ for 16 people, was put on the silent auction instead of the live auction. In the silent auction it had a "buy it now" price that was much lower than what it really is worth, so we just bought it. Yup, we bought what we donated, but it was worth it to us.
There were a lot of people with open hearts/wallets tonight. It's cool seeing people so willing to give - especially for items where it's a straight donation where they don't get an item in return.
I love it when it's this time of year when we change the clocks and get that hour "extra" worth of sleep. That's a time adjustment that I can deal with. It's already at the point where when I get to work it's dark. It'll be a bit depressing when it's dark when I leave work too. :(
