I don't know if you remember the story about what happened when Rae's hamster died. She was out when it croaked, and we just left it in the cage so we could be all sensitive and talk to her about death etc. She got home and we gently broke it to her that the critter was dead. She asked us where it was and we said, "Its body is still in the cage." She burst into horrified tears and sobbed, "But where's its head?!?"
WE probably have 20 or 30 cats and kittens buried up behind the house out here. My mom always thought it would be funny to be around when someone started digging up all the little skeletons and tried to imagine why there were so many. We're cat people, that's why, but they might not realize that they were interred over the course of forty years or so, and they would just figure we were cat-killing freaks. Ha. Maybe if all your pets check out at about the same time it's nature's way of telling you to take a vacation or something. I hope hammy feels better and your kitty is feeling as a fine as possible.
I can't afford to leave our gerbil in the cage tho, I have heard stories of the living eating the dead... and that just wouldn't work for us. Cannibal sisters...
