The life of a Gamecube

Yeah, so one of the RAs in my dorm asked me to fix his cube. What do I say, sure. After giving it a basic runover, I determine that the problem lies in the laser. So I tell him that for 30 bucks I can fix it. He says sure, and I tell him that there is no guarentee on the system after I work on it. He says that's ok and lets me at it. Well, I've changed the laser w/ one of the other cubes that I have and the other cube's laser is also dead (along with that one's motor). So it will be onto the other cubes until I run out. If I do...well that sucks. I hope to find a working laser so that I can fix it w/o using the other one that I have. I do that, and I'm all set.

Upon working on his cube I have determined that it is much easier to change the drive motor than the laser, but that is just on the first try. Takes me about 30-45 minutes to change a laser too.

More to come: other tries and attempts at putting a GCN into 2 optical drive bays (5.25" or CD). The mod idea will be really fun and may also prove to be a good thing for me to do. I dunno, I get good enough at doing it I may buy used GCNs from game stores and make them into drive bay systems. How cool would that be?
