Today's movie is The Mummy.
Made in 1999 but set in the 1920s, this version of The Mummy stars Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell who's hired by Evie (Rachel Weisz) and her brother Jonathan (John Hannah) to guide them to the ancient city of Hamunaptra. Unfortunately for them and another team of archeologists, they awaken Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), a priest who was cursed and was mummified while still alive.

Horror films aren't my thing at all but I have a weakness for all things Ancient Egyptian. On seeing this was only rated PG-13, I watched it. The death scenes are conveyed through shadow and sound and the reaction of those witnessing it, which bumps it up far beyond an 18 certificate in my head.
However, it's a fun romp with a horror edge. Don't watch it for the horror, watch it for the wisecracking hero and heroine (and her brother) as they kick ass and run away from man eating beetles.
