Fandom: Cinderella's Sister
Pairing: Eun Jo/Ki Hoon
Rating: PG-13
If Eun Jo learned anything from her mother growing up, it was to rely only on herself and never on others. So that is exactly what she is doing.
She doesn't like people, or care enough to even attempt to. Because liking them meant that she might have to deal with them and possibly end up caring for them; and Eun Jo simply does not care about people. That's it. End of story.
Until she met Ki Hoon. Ki Hoon, with his big, wide eyes; eyes that display all the emotion he ever feels for others, but never himself.
Ki Hoon, with his dazzling smile; a smile that her heart never got tired of seeing. Of course Eun Jo will never admit it, because Eun Jo stuffs everything way down deep inside her body until the blackness that consumes her heart suffocates any hint of passionate feelings. Or at least, that is what she tells herself.
She can't help but want to make him proud, want to show him that she isn't just this stubborn brat that ran down the highway to make him chase her. She is Eun Jo. But she is also human, with human emotions and a heart that was so closed off that she isn't sure it is even beating.
But Ki Hoon knows. Ki Hoon knows her better than she knows herself, she's certain. To be honest it kind of scares her. Actually, it terrifies her and makes her avoid him, but if there is one thing about Ki hoon that Eun Jo had learned since she met him, he had a way of making her drawn to him.
Ki Hoon also had this way of showing up, walking into her life like a dazzling bright ball of energy. Eun Jo doesn't care though. She shows him her cold demeanor, lets him eat her biting words. She makes it difficult for him to like her, let alone hang around her.
She gives him credit for being so persistent. He overlooks one thing though, and she supposes that she does too because she is also persistent and stubborn and they are playing a game that she invented. He wasn't going to win, because she was a master of her emotions and he was not going to unlock them.
But then Ki Hoon didn't come home. He didn't come home from something she forced him to do, so she waited.
She isn't worried, she tells herself, she just wants to make sure that everything is done and over with.
She isn't worried, she tells herself, when she sees him there, resting against the brick wall. As he stumbles towards her, hand reaching for her as he mumbles things. She is silent and cold as she watches him, her eyes calculating.
"Eun Jo yah," he whispers and her eyes catch with his, face completely void of emotion, but her heart, it beat. It's beating so fast and she's scared because this isn't supposed to happen, not to her.
The dark strands fall into her eyes and she wonders how anyone can make her name sound like this.
"Eun Jo yah," he repeats. He said Eun Jo yah, her mind whispers in a haze.
"Eun Jo yah," his voice is weak, trembling as he stumbles again towards her. She catches him this time, before he falls on her, and his head rests against her shoulder. He is holding back the tears as her arms wrap stiffly around his torso.
"Eun Jo yah," he says a fourth time. He said Eun Jo yah, she repeats in her head like a mantra.
That is it, she foolishly let her guard down and she should be sick of herself, but it's okay because Ki Hoon is always around. He's the one that keeps her grounded.
It shouldn't be such a shock when he leaves without so much as a goodbye, but it is. It's really all her fault, her fault for letting him into her heart, her fault for trusting him.
She never ran so hard in her life. Never chased after anyone, because she was usually running away from them.
She can't find him though, no matter how long and how hard she searches. And as she cries on the beach, calling out Eun Jo Yah, just like he did all those nights ago, she can't help but miss him.
As much as she hates him, as much as she wants to hate him, She can't.
Because as much as she hates him, she loves him all the more.
