I want to emphasize that I really couldn't care less about the Bears. My father was a huge Bears fan for some reason, but I've never particularly cared about them one way or the other. In fact, I was more or less rooting for Green Bay in the recent NFC Championship Game. That said, I'm sick of all the unprofessional attacks being flung at QB Jay Cutler by people who didn't even take the time to find out all the facts of the situation.
I understand that toughness is a part of playing in the NFL, but people have started taking it to extremes. News flash: Pain is the body's way of saying to pay attention because there's something seriously wrong. Especially when what's wrong is a bad knee injury involving a torn ligament. I can't help but think of what my old high school biology teacher used to say: When you hear someone saying "tough it out" and chanting "No pain, no gain", you should add to it "No brain".
I guess we really have entered a new era. Thanks to Twitter, NFL players can now act exactly like a gang of immature gossipy 7th graders.
