Terrorists, Drugs Runners, and Psychopaths (And how do you tell the difference anyway?)

It has long been a concern among security officials that international terrorist groups may begin to cooperate with international drug cartels. This concern seems to have taken on a new urgency in light of an alleged plot by elements within the Iranian government to hire members of the Los Zetas drug cartel to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States on American soil. Personally, I have to be skeptical about accusations that the Iranian government was directly involved. The United States has had a consistent recent history of putting forward pretexts for attacking other countries that turn out to be, shall we say, less than accurate. What is conspicuously left unsaid in the media coverage I have seen is what possible motive Iran would have for concocting such a plot or how such a thing would serve Iranian interests.

Now a couple of articles on the wider Occupy Wall Street movement:

From today's New York Times, an article about the implications of new waves of protestors combined with changing police tactics and whether that intersection could lead to the potential for more confrontation between protesters and the police.

And from Monday's Oregonian, a review of some interesting research studies which point to the very real possibility that if corporations are people, then many of them may be properly classified as insane psychopaths. And keep in mind, they are running the world.

9/17, occupy portland, occupy wall street, corporate america
